LG Innotek CEO Park Jong-seok said at a press conference held at its Seoul headquarters: "LG Innotek is a UV LED The most competitive company in the field, so our goal is to become the number one company in the UV LED field."

The company said it has developed a 150-milliwatt model this year UV LED chip , and will increase its power to 200 milliwatts next year.

LG Innotek is better known as a supplier of smartphone camera modules. It is also the main supplier of dual cameras for Apple’s iPhone.

Currently, 2-10 milliwatt ultraviolet rays are widely used in water, air purifiers and other household appliances. This powerful UV light of over 100 milliwatts will be used to sterilize large industrial facilities such as water treatment, hospital sanitation arrangements and large manufacturing equipment.

Park Jong-seok said, “We have gained various contacts in China, and in daily life, UV LED will be used in more and more places, for example, for the maintenance of escalator handrails in public places. ”

According to data from TrendForce’s LED Research Center (LEDinside), the UV LED market output value will grow to US$288 million (equivalent to approximately RMB 1.956 billion) in 2017.； In 2020, it will reach US$526 million (equivalent to approximately RMB 3.573 billion), with a compound growth rate (CAGR) of 34% from 2015 to 2020.
