According to the Development and Reform Commission of Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, the annual output is 30 million UV rays. LED chip Zhongke's Lu'an deep ultraviolet LED project has been officially put into production recently. This is the world’s first high-power mass-produced ultraviolet LED chip production line, marking the rapid advancement of Changzhi City’s LED industry toward the 100-billion-level goal. Its commissioning has brought the LED industry in Changzhi City into a new stage of clustering and high-end development, and also means that Shanxi Province has an international and open ultraviolet optoelectronics industry cluster.
Changzhi City is the city where the LED industry started earlier in Shanxi Province and is also the city where the LED industry develops rapidly in Shanxi Province. As early as 10 years ago, Changzhi City actively laid out and built the country's only LED vertical industry chain, accounting for 95% of the province's scale. The production scale of leading enterprises has advanced into the top three in the same industry nationwide. At present, there are more than 30 LED companies in the city, as well as national-level optoelectronic product testing centers and laboratories, which have accumulated strong technical strength, R&D advantages and late-mover potential. The number of invention patents held by 10,000 people is much higher than the provincial and national averages.
In response to the requirement of accelerating transformation, Changzhi City regards the LED industry as a strategic industry for the city, based on the construction of a national-level semiconductor optoelectronics industry base, led by the two leading companies, Hi-tech Huaye Group and Zhongke Lu'an, focusing on both ends of the industry chain and the high end of the value chain, making every effort to build a regional LED industry chain, and striving to create a 100-billion-dollar advantageous LED industry cluster. On the basis of comprehensively improving the level of the LED vertical integration industry chain, they took the lead in the country's layout and planning of deep ultraviolet LEDs, built the world's first mass-produced deep ultraviolet LED chip production line, and simultaneously built a semiconductor industry technology research institute.
By 2020, Changzhi will achieve major breakthroughs and large-scale production of third-generation semiconductor deep ultraviolet LED chip technology, and build 1 to 2 R&D pilot and industrial service platforms.; By 2023, Changzhi will have fully built a national innovation base and industrial cluster with strong comprehensive R&D capabilities, complete industrial chains, outstanding key enterprises, and complete scientific and technological services. ; By 2030, Changzhi’s energy-saving and environmentally friendly UV LED industry will become the country’s leading UV LED technology innovation center, high-end talent training center, and scientific and technological achievements transformation and application center, leading the development of the industry.
